Agland's Philosophy Agland, since its formation in 1976, has focused on the sustainable development of the food and fiber sector, both in the USA and globally. Agland has a strong client base in both the private and public sectors. A solid base of consultants and project experience cover the broad range of products and specialized businesses that form the global food and fiber production and delivery system. Private Sector The private sector has been proven over and over to be the most productive and efficient producer and marketer of food and fiber crops. To our projects, Agland brings staff with a range of consulting experience with a focus on the bottom line. Agland's success has ranged from planning new investments and managing "turn-around" situations to providing independent evaluations of investment opportunities.
Public Sector Agland's principals have been a proponent of mobilizing the private sector to accomplish economic development goals, long before it became a popular refrain in the 1990's. One of the first projects involving the private sector in achieving development goals was the initiation in the early 1970's of Floramerica S.A. near Bogota, Colombia, designed to produce and market cut flowers to international standards. This company has now become the largest cut flower producer in the world. Recently, Agland assisted the Peruvian Exporters Association to develop sweet onions as an export crop. The project has been very successful and over the past few years exports have exceeded $20 million. Sustainable Resources As the resources of the world are called upon to support an ever increasing population, Agland is called upon to help solve conflicts over the use of resources. Often, Agland works with large urban planning or engineering firms to provide a rural perspective to land and water usage issues. We have also advised organizations on ways to sustain food producing resources in the path of development, reduce pollution and enhance environmental conditions. Team Approach
Financial Planning Over the years, we have found that financing can be difficult to find for food production and processing, as these opportunities are not well understood in financial markets. We not only help clients design and develop new projects, but we can also assist in finding project financing. |
